Montserrat square
Medieval square emerged between the walled enclosure of the 13th century and the extension of the 16th century, with the wall of San Francesc as the limit.
The square is adjacent to the Montserrat church, the new courts and the old Balcells factory (now the space where the Municipal Music Conservatory of Manresa is located).
With the implementation of the new courts (which bring together the different judicial units that were distributed throughout the city), Montserrat Square becomes the main point of access to this equipment on foot and from the center of the city. For this reason, its new urbanization, in accordance with the parameters established for the old town, must not only contribute to the environmental improvement of this area of the city, but must also guarantee a correct accessibility to this equipment.
The Montserrat church was built in 1887 and in 1909 it was burned during the Tragic Week. Years later it was rebuilt.
